Nana jewellerystore year: 2006
The clients question was to transform the entire store including this lovely storefront.
The building situated on the busy “Nieuwedijk” near Amsterdam’s Dam square had a funny angle inwards. The design with curved central island meant to make sense of this angle and kind of pull you in along that angle. The concept was based on letting the more expensive pieces float in their displays,
Both the mirroring floor under the island and the material combination where chosen to enhance the sense of luxury. Matt black displays backdrops, Oak bases and the self luminescent Perspex. A sensitive and tactile combo. To even out the investment in display cost we designed the high space with mostly hidden lighting, we saved on expensive fixtures while keeping the height accentuated. The storefront was updated with two very simple sleek steel frames holding the glass and sliding doors.
